We encourage you to continue to talk with your children about college and the wonderful opportunities it will provide. We will continue to provide the tools which will be the foundation in their preparation for college. Thank you all for your support in making this event a success.

Elizabeth Vaughan Elementary will be hosting our 2nd Annual Kindergarten to College event on Friday, April 16, 2010. Our vision and purpose for this event is to provide early awareness to our students and parents. We will provide informational resources regarding the importance of going to college, hot to prepare for college, how to be financially prepared, and most importantly providing a college readiness home environment.
At Vaughan we believe in" Beginning with the End in Mind". As educators, we believe in planting the seed to succeed. This is an enriching opportunity for our students to learn about college and the advantages of going. We realize early exposure is critical and it is our hope that this will ultimately decrease the high school drop our rate in Prince William County. This exposure, to college, will bring about our future leaders. We are the first and only elementary school in Prince William County to host such an event. Recently, our 5th grade students were featured on the news for their first college trip to Virginia Tech University.
There will be three assemblies that day: 9:45 - 10:30 AM - for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade Parents 1:00 - 3:00 PM for 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade Parents New this year: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM - an Information Panel for Parents.
"At Vaughan we beleive that every child should have the opportunity to go to college."

Spring BreakDear Parents and Students,
I hope you are enjoying your Spring Break. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our Kindergarten to College event going on now in our school. While on break this week please take a moment out to take your child to visit a college. It can be local or distant. Make sure you take a picture and bring it to school to hang in our hall. If you don't have a picture pick up a pamphlet and I will take a picture of your child holding their pamphlet. We will hang them in the hallway outside of our classroom to compete with the rest of the school. Our goal is to have the most students visiting colleges. If you don't get to visit a college this week don't panic, you can visit them anytime between now and college week. Thank you in advance for participating in our college week. Remember there is also Starfall and PBS at the bottom of the sight. Sincerely, Mrs. Bunch Things to do!Hello Class,
I hope you are enjoying the snow we have received? If you were at school I would ask if snow is a solid, liquid or gas? Please take the time to impress your families by sharing solid, liquid, and gas with them. Also, you can keep your skill sharp by working in starfall or PBS kids. Look for the links in the bottom of this page. I look forward to seeing you all as soon as school reopens. Sincerely, Mrs. Bunch Sink or FloatDear Parents,
Our class has been studying Water Properties. We are finishing up a unit on "sink or float." Please ask your children what they are working on in school. This helps to reinforce the objectives we cover in class. Thank you in advance, Mrs. Bunch Report Card CoverParents,
